Are My Donations Tax Deductible?
You bet. Your donations qualify as 501 (c) (3) contributions. We automatically provide you with an acknowledgment at the end of the year if your total annual donations are over $249. If you contribute less than that and require an acknowledgment, please let us know when you donate.
Are You a Religious Organization?
Yes. But not the scary kind.
We see this work as being a direct result of our faith and our commitment to live in the Way taught by Jesus of Nazareth. However, we do not discriminate at all (neither did Jesus) and there are no strings attached and we have no agenda, other than loving people without conditions.
That being said, we welcome people of every faith and of no faith who wish to help us in our mission of loving and advocating for the poor, the homeless, the left behind.
I Am About to be Homeless. Where Can I Go?
We maintain a list of shelters and places you can get a hot meal.
What Should I Do About Panhandlers?
Our founder, Hugh, has written quite a bit about panhandling here and here
What Can I Do to Help?
Thanks for asking! There are many ways you can help us out. Here is a list to start with…
No, I REALLY Want to Help!
Well, thanks! Our friends who do not have homes are not some random number to us - they really are our friends. Because of this, we are a little (OK, very) protective of them and our relationships. Shoot Hugh an email if you want and we can talk and see if we are on the same page.
What version of the Bible are you quoting?
Unless I say otherwise, I am quoting the NRSV (New Revised Standard Version). I find it is generally the most trustworthy and reliable, without sacrificing readability.
Where did you get the picture of [whatever].
The photos I use in blog posts are all found on flickr, the photo sharing site. Because I only use photos that have been marked as ok to use (via their creative commons license), all the posts having a photo have links to the original owner, usually at the end of the post, following the words Photo Credit.
