Chapel Service

At Love Wins Ministries, we feed people. And we sit in the dark with people. And we help people enter housing. But underneath it all, we are doing this because of our convictions about what it means to love people in accordance with our admittedly hopeful interpretation of the teachings of Jesus.

Many of the people we minister among are victims of spiritual abuse. Because of how they have been treated by the church in the past, they feel they can no longer go to church. But just because they don’t feel they can go to church does not mean they are not Christian. Or doesn’t mean they don’t need spiritual care and the opportunity to worship.

For those people, Love Wins Ministries offers a weekly chapel service. It is pretty low key, to tell you the truth.

We gather. We welcome everyone. Nate or Ogun bring us some simple praise songs. Somebody reads a scripture from the Gospels. Somebody (often me, but not always) gives a short message. Then, everyone gets a chance to talk about what they got out of it, or what they noticed, or to argue for an alternative view. We pray for each other. We share communion. And we leave to face another week, prayed for and cared for.
